Running Facebook and Instagram ads with an agency should be the exciting bit — it usually means you’re ready to start scaling. But before any campaigns can launch, there’s usually one thing that slows everything down:
Meta access.
If you’ve ever tried to onboard an agency to your Meta accounts, you’ll know exactly what we mean.
Suddenly, you’re knee-deep in things like:
- Business Manager permissions
- Ad account IDs
- Pixel sharing
- Page ownership
- Partner access
- Business Suite settings
…and wondering why something that should be simple feels anything but.
For most business owners, this is the point where things start to feel unnecessarily complicated (and slightly frustrating). Add in things like previous agencies, multiple logins, or internal IT policies, and it can get messy pretty quickly.
The good news? It really doesn’t have to be this complicated.
How We Make This Easy
Instead of sending you a 15-step PDF and hoping for the best, we just jump on a quick screen-share and sort it together.
In around 20–30 minutes, we:
- Find the right accounts
- Connect everything properly
- Fix anything that’s broken or missing
No guesswork. No back-and-forth. No tech headaches.

Why Proper Meta Onboarding Actually Matters
It might feel like a small admin step, but getting this right makes a big difference.
When access is set up properly, we can:
- Launch campaigns faster
- Track performance accurately
- Optimise using real data
When it’s not, this is what we typically see:
- Campaign delays because accounts aren’t shared correctly
- Conversion tracking not working (usually pixel issues)
- Missing page permissions stopping ads from running
- Old agencies still owning or controlling assets
- Multiple Business Managers causing confusion
We see this all the time — especially with businesses that have worked with a few agencies over the years.
Proper onboarding means we have access to everything we need from day one, including:
- Ad accounts
- Facebook Pages
- Instagram accounts
- Pixels and tracking data
- Business Suite assets
- Catalogues or commerce data (if relevant)
In our experience, accounts with full access tend to optimise faster simply because we can actually see and use all the available data.
What Happens During the Onboarding Call
We’ll walk through everything together on a screen-share.
No jargon. No assumptions. Just step-by-step, making sure everything is connected properly.
Quick Prep Before the Call
If you can, it helps to be logged into:
- Meta Business Manager
- Your Facebook Page
- Your Instagram account
- Your website backend (if tracking is involved)
If you’re not sure where everything is, don’t worry. That’s part of what we help uncover.
Step 1: Add the Agency to Your Business Manager
- Most Meta assets live inside Business Manager — this is the control centre for everything.
- We’ll guide you to:
- Business Settings → Partners → Add Partner
- From there, you’ll add our Business Manager ID.
- This gives us access without affecting your ownership.
- Pro tip: Turn on two-factor authentication for extra security.
Step 2: Give Access to Your Ad Account
- Next, we connect your ad account — where campaigns actually live.
- Inside Business Manager:
- Business Settings → Ad Accounts → Assign Partner
- This allows us to create campaigns, manage budgets, build audiences and manage performance
- If you don’t have an ad account yet, we’ll set one up during the call.
Step 3: Connect Pixel & Tracking
- If you have a website, this is where things get important.
- The Meta Pixel lets us track user actions like leads, purchases and key page visits.
- This is what allows campaigns to optimise and actually generate results.
- We’ll open Events Manager and assign access to your pixel.
- Common hiccup: If your domain isn’t verified, we’ll fix that while we’re there.
Step 4: Connect Pages & Other Assets
- We’ll then make sure everything else is properly linked: Facebook Page, Instagram Account and Asset Permissions
- Facebook Page access
- Instagram account connection
- Asset permissions
- If you’re using things like Products Catalogues, Offline events, Lead Forms and CRM Integrations, we’ll connect those too
Step 5: Final Checks (This Is Where We Catch Issues)
- Before we wrap up, we do a quick audit to make sure everything actually works.
- This is often where we spot things that would have caused problems later.
- Once this is done, you’re ready to go.
Meta Access

Yes. Agencies are added as partners, which means: Your business keeps full ownership of assets Access can be removed anytime No passwords are shared
